Would you recommend that I move to the States from Ireland?

Texas specifically.
Tennessee would be good for you
@jjoe01 I like TN. I hate the roads though. Especially around Nashville.
Why would you want to?
Journalists eh so you know what or how our media is here and how it is percieved? Are you wanting to be taken seriously?
@SunShineDayDream Well that comes with time. It would be great if people took me seriously right away, but that probably won't happen, no matter what country I'm in. You have to earn respect in the industry.
Yeah our media is a joke. Thanks to our leadership it has become a three ring circle. I think Canada seems nicer.
Noooooooooo! At least pick a better state.

Texas, no. It's hot as hell down there. Move to the Pacific Northwest.
@SW-User Yeah. Now THAT'S a nice place.
The culture shock of just moving to the states from Ireland, might do you in. Moving to Texas would do you in faster.
@PhoenixPhail I lived in Australia for 6-years, so the culture shock shouldn't be so bad for me. :) I find things like that exciting. Why would moving to Texas do me in faster? Hahaha Is it a hectic place?
@lauriethecolourful Just very conservative and lots of rednecks, except for Austin. If you move to Texas, I would suggest living in Austin. More culturally diverse, much more liberal and lots of music.

Texas is very hot. I have never been to Ireland but had a friend on EP who was from there. Told me it was cold all the time there. You may not like the heat.
@curiosi I lived in Australia for 6-years, so I am well used to the heat. Hahaha Even though I grew up in Ireland, I moved away at an age were I was changing so much, so I feel like I don't belong here any more. I don't know if I will belong in Texas, but it is worth a shot. :)

I came illegally to the United states from ireland back in the 80s. Best choice I ever made.
MyPathOfTotality · 46-50, M
North Carolina is a beautiful state. We have beaches and mountains and everything in between.
TheFragile · 46-50, M
Ireland is probably better.
BlueRain · F
I’m in Ireland now. It’s like stepping back in time. It’s cooler and rains all the time. It is beautiful though.
@BlueRain Ireland IS a beautiful county, but there are just no career opportunities for me here. The people are also very set in their ways. At least that's how it is in my town. :)
BlueRain · F
I don’t know about that. I’m very sorry. I’m just used to my culture and this is very foreign.
SW-User
why? when ireland is so immensely beautiful
@SW-User It is, but like I was saying to someone else, there are no career options for me here. People in Ireland are so set in their ways, too, which is fine, but I want to experience something more in life. :)

@lauriethecolourful i get the desire but it's not always a good idea, specially when you're talking about texas

If you want to I don't see why not. Prepare yourself to eat a lot of meat.
Hell no, Texas is the armpit of America.
BlueRain · F
I’m here on vacation and live in the states.

Stay if you find happiness and contentment where you are. This includes friends, engaging work, a good living, etc. Sometimes the wanderlust ore greater opportunity trumps all that. So.....do what expands you as a person.
frogpond · 70-79, M
That decision is up to you, there are many beautiful States. I am from the west coast if you are interested.

Why in the heck would you ever want to do that?

No. Stay far away.

@Stereoguy I lived in Australia for 6-years, so the culture change would be easy for me. I'm actually used to it.
