I don't think it particularly matters unless your relationship is intimate. But they might just like their privacy or be too self-conscious to really open up... We can only speculate.

It's maybe more likely they could be catfishing, but not necessarily. Some people just don't want to be seen for some reason. But I honestly think most people are who they say they are. Maybe I'm just too trusting.

I didn't voice chat my gf for almost a year. She thought i was a catfish but i was actually too nervous and shy to do it. However, I finally did and we've skyped every day since then.
