Does this explain why DC movies bomb while Marvel Movies score?
Because Marvel is more business-like and asks themselves "What do the fans want, and what's the best way to give it to them" while DC asks themselves "How can we do something new and innovative to be different". If you can innovate and be new and original, that's great! However, it's very, VERY hard to do, and because DC takes so many risks, they fail. Marvel sticks with formulas that have been proven to work and ones that are requested by fans. Look at the first Avengers film: while I didn't like it that much, It did have technical proficiency, but it was as generic as possible. They have simple plots, but with good writing and top actors, with comic book accuracy.
