Yes. The point that was missed - "Never have anything in your life that you cannot walk away from in 30 seconds or less", but he couldn't let go of the guy double crossing him. If he had, he'd have been sitting in a recliner with an ocean view somewhere else.

I saw it when it came out and was a bit disappointed with it. It would have made a great TV movie or mini-series but as a film film it had too many stories and characters for my liking.
