@exita Turkey: loved the food, history and beaches. Must do, seafood restaurants along the Bosporus Pass, Göreme Open-Air Museum, Agora open air museum, all the palaces of Istanbul, the beaches along the Mediterranean. Must avoid: real inner city in Istanbul, could be dangerous, and Ankara's pollution, especially if you're visiting during the winter. They made stay in the hotel one time in Ankara, due to pollution. Been there multiple times. Great nightlife in parts of Istanbul and the Mediterranean resorts. Watch for renewed religious fervor.

Egypt: Loved the history. Mostly history of the dead, it's all over the place, the valley of the kings is a must. Stick to hotels food, if it's a good hotel, otherwise, expect to get sick. I did, and I've been there multiple times. Watch where you go, and stick to guided tours. The Pyramids, of course are amazing. Not to miss: the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. There's as private section, that I was lucky enough to tour. I hated the dust, and sharp contrast in living conditions, between those who have it, and those who don't, and state of chaos, where everyone is in charge, and no one is in charge. Avoid the nightlife.

Paris: what's not to like. I've been there more times than I can recount. You need a lifetime to explore the city, and the surrounding areas. The museums are a must, and there are so many. Food and wine, of course, and simply walking around and observing life. There are parts of Paris that one should avoid, especially at night.

@exita Your home has certainly changed over the years. One of my favorites breakfast spots is the Karakol Rastaurant, in the garden of the Topkapi Palace. It's a simple meal of eggs over easy with olives, cucumbers and tomatoes.

I am concerned that Turkey has taken a religious turn that's going to be difficult to recover from, as well as a case of "let's revive the Ottoman Empire". I understand Patriotism, but Nationalism is bad.
