Personally, I believe that class sizes should be no larger than 12:1.

@MrsKatherineArch Is that enough kids to make class discussions interesting? You know that half those kids probaly won't participate. I larger class gives more opportunity for discussion.

My class size is limited to eight. @Lostpoet

@MrsKatherineArch Have you had a bigger class before and which one did you like teaching more?

When I did my student teaching, there were 15, and I thought that was too many. It’s important to consider the need for individual instruction. @Lostpoet

@Lostpoet Honestly, a smaller class would probably increase participation in discussions. A lot of the time, in classrooms, students don't answer because they think someone else will do it. If you're in a class with less than ten people, the responsibility wouldn't be as disippated, I'd imagine.

That’s how the Harkness Method works. @SW-User

@SW-User I think you right about that.

@MrsKatherineArch Individual teaching is critical. But at eight students is there enough energy to learn from other kids thoughts and questions. I think students learn and relate with each other sometimes easier than from the teachers instructions.

I limit my classes to eight, and class participation is 30% of the final grade. @Lostpoet
