As I was brought up, this was "expected", as were "Thank You", "May I?", "You're welcome.", "Excuse me" and other phrases and expression that showed courtesy and politeness.

@soar2newhighs true....but judging by the answers.... maybe it's just a myth that people get offended if you hold the door for them
