All feelings and desires are connected. Shut one down, and the others can become a little numb as well.
This is why you see so many frustrated people. So busy trying to stop their negative emotions, at the cost of killing their good ones.
Beware the price.

@OogieBoogie If it's just a short term desire, distraction is best.
One favorite that ASD people use is a rubber band on their wrist...you snap it... And it stings a little, but it helps jump your thoughts.

Best to rechannel those feelings to somewhere else, still let them flow, but find a better outlet.
