I just had the weirdest dream

A dead person's "spirit" or something was narrating his life to me, and his regrets, and then I got to "float" and sort of watch his life as it played out like I was a ghost or something. And we both saw him make the same mistakes again, it was really painful to watch. Especially his death because he left two kids behind.
Also this dream seemed like it lasted for days but when I woke up I realized it barely lasted for three hours (2 am - 5am). This is the weirdest thing that's happened to me in a while
