How would you tell a sibling to stop obsessing over various syndromes and stuff?

So I have this sibling who's a bit odd. She's part of loads of groups she doesn't need to be part of like this week she has restless leg syndrome when she doesn't so she's sat here pretending to have it when she doesn't and tests have proven this.

How would you stop someone obsessing over having various illnesses, fears, syndromes/ diseases and stuff. It's like she wants to be sick or seen as special or something. Not quite sure what to do 馃し

You get them to join a hypocondriac group.

@kayoshin a what what group!? 馃槷

Hypocondriac are people suffering from a psychological issue that expresses itself just as your sister acts. The persons are always convinced that they have a deseases then another and so on even if there is no symptom to back that up. The conviction can become so strong that it acts like an opposite placebo effect making them physically ill.
Either that or consider the possibility that your sibling is a deeply lonely person and gets contact and support wherever they can get it in a way that feels meaningful to them. (How well loved and supported they are in reality is not relevant just their perception of it is).

@kayoshin she's In a relationship with a great guy and pregnant and stuff were always around and stuff. So she's not lonely that's for certain. It's just attention seeking. She's always been like it in all honesty. Though a group like this may be helpful I don't know.

She is definetely hypocondriac. Why, it is uncertain I just said a possibility. Another very likely one can be post birth depression disguising itself as fear of death because who can take care of my baby etc. And just like I said you are talking about YOUR reality not hers, a person can be lonely and unhappy without a real reason just because that's how they are in their mind their own reality. Many people have all the reasons in the world to be happy but are instead terribly depressed or troubled it's a difficult to understand thing especially by a healthy person that thinks by cause-effect logic but excludes the "noise" that can happen in each brain's interpretation of reality.

@kayoshin AHH she's always been like it way before she was expecting. I am concerned that she is taking meds she not needing as I found a bunch of tablets and stuff she definitely hasn't been prescribed. It's all from a health food store too
kayoshin36-40, M
Don't worry about those from a health food store, those will only do wrong on her wallet. So she might get scammed but they don't really sell poisonous stuff or meds that need strict regulations. She does need to see someone about the hypocondriac mindset though, it's dangerous in the long run and it can get really dangerous if she starts projecting on her kids and starts giving them useless meds and crazy diets for no reason.

@kayoshin yeah definitely, she's already having baby tested for everything 馃し
