My understanding was that Brexit was Britain saying "that's it, I don't NEED to be out tonight, I'm heading in for the night." and happy to do it alone with a book and a glass of wine.
Britain went out with the EU for a coffee in 1972, then was persuaded to stick around and meet some of EUs mates for lunch, then dinner. Then got lumbered with the bill for both..... Who needs mates like that???
