this whole "the planet is going to die if we do not do anything" is a false flag to me.

@revenant The planet will be fine for the next 15 billions years... It's us that will be fucked, lol
chrisCA · M
@revenant Mother Earth would probably kill us off before that would happen.
revenant · F
@Quizzical yep. This planet thing is a con to distract from the real problems.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@revenant I tend to agree actually.
SW-User
@Quizzical This is not necessarily true. We could in theory create a runaway greenhouse effect and make Earth like Venus.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@SW-User I think there are some elements that are correct, some that are blown out of all proportion, and some improvements that are being totally ignored because they don't fit the narrative.
SW-User
@Quizzical Ok, what are we talking about in particular?
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@SW-User Well, a definitely correct element is that pollution is a terrible and totally man-made issue and we have GOT to stop using plastics or else we are going to completely devastate marine life.

One that is being blown out of proportion is the fact that in the next 15 to 20 years we will all be bollocks deep in water... They were telling us that when I was 10 years old and watching Blue Peter. It may possibly happen eventually, but this 15 to 20 years seems to be on a sliding timeline.

One thing that is being ignored or not publicised is that the Southern ozone hole 'sealed' up a few years ago.
SW-User
Not sure about the rate of the polar ice caps melting but it is definitely exponential, so who knows for sure all we have are estimates. It will probably take thousands of years for the icecaps to met completely.

Let’s face it’s on the scale of things you haven’t been around for very long. Whipper Snapper!

I don’t think it has healed I heard that it has shown signs of recovery?
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@SW-User Last I read it was totally sealed.

There's actually been evidence that while one edge of Antarctica is melting, another side is showing ice regeneration.

And if we are talking scale, we've only kept relatively accurate records for just over a Century, which is also the blink of an eye, lol
SW-User
@Quizzical Yes but we have the fossil record and geological records to go by as well.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@SW-User True, and frankly I can't comment on their accuracy as I don't know enough about the subject.

I would be far more trusting of data is Climate Change were not a multi-million dollar industry.
SW-User
@Quizzical I hear ya. It is hard to know what to believe. There is nothing that money doesn’t have it’s grubby little paws in. Both For & against.

Err on the side of caution- build a submarine:)
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@SW-User Lmao, sounds like a plan 😂
