How did you handle your first baby when he/she was born

SW-User
With complete fear. He was born 3 hours away from home and that was the longest most terrifying 3 hour drive of my life. Holding him I was afraid I would break him. My prior baby experience was extremely limited. We were supposed to go to a week of classes but the baby was born 5 weeks early...a week before the classes.

Honestly? I got sick as a dog the day we brought her home because I was so stressed and scared. But then after that night I did alright. Just didn’t sleep much for a year

@SW-User wow but i bet it was a good moment
SW-User
It was. The gravity of how real it was for me to have her there was a huge deal. That’s why I got so sick it just hit hard. But I can’t picture my life without her now

I was terrified to bring him home that first day out of the hospital. Once I did though those parental instincts kicked in. It was automatic after that. Developed a solid routine pretty easily.
Very carefully. The next ones not nearly as much.

@MistyCee why lolll
@K9security First time parents tend to obsess. You can't survive like that all the time.

She only slept like a newborn for about a week....drained my energy.

@K9security Take a little catnip in the morning, I’d sneak to the kitchen and heat some food up and sit it on the table to eat and she’d wake up & cry....then later pour some cereal when she was asleep..she’d wake up & cry...I didn’t eat warm food or cereal that was crisp for at least 6 months. She slept through the night one Saturday night when she was 2 weeks old. I slept like a baby that night and bragged on her thinking it would be a new sleep trend for her. I was wrong she didn’t do it again for 6 months. But the interesting thing was that night she slept so good was the night before Mother’s Day, it was the best gift I could have gotten, I felt good.
easily
it wasn't the first baby I handled
