What do you guys think about this years Oscars?

It was a different experience I guess altogether - first of all not having a primary host because Kevin Hart stepped down after the attacks on social media - but also on the more positive side - lots of diversity - not just racial or LGBTQ but also ethnicity and region from where films were considered from...
[big][c=#BF0080]what was your fav moment or biggest take from this year? :)[/c][/big]

Diversity is all very well and good, the important thing is, did the BEST films win in each category.

If not the whole thing is a farce.

@Quizzical i agree actually - pushing for diversity instead of talent actually takes away the respect and need for oscars - this in any case should not be a place which encourages "participation was the best award" but rather give the commendation where it's due <3

@SW-User Nicely put
SW-User
@Quizzical thank you and thank you for being honest about it :)

@SW-User Well, I know you are aware that I'm not a bigot in any way, but everyone has to start being able to be honest again about these things or else the whole entertainment industry is going to crash down around us.

They will be producing rubbish films that win awards because they fill certain diversity boxes rather than have any actual merit.

People will no longer go and see these terrible films

Hollywood will have less money

Even less quality film are made, and the cycle repeats...

Until finally we are back to having to entertain ourselves of an evening, and there's only so much masturbation the body can stand, lol

@Quizzical being honest and voicing what you think is right isn't bigotry - its silly to think that no more than ever as a community we preach tolerance but are intolerant to anything that doesn't makes us feel soft and warm and mushy - that's just sad really

omg lol well you know what bugs me off - and i am being real honest here is when women go on to the stage and suddenly make it like tonight is about feminism, empowering women and we are proud to say like in this category 60% are women - honestly that's just beefing up numbers to feed egos - that's not true representation 🤦🏻‍♀️

@SW-User You've heard about Captain Marvel then? lol
SW-User
@Quizzical lol yes i have 😅
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@SW-User The audience percentage wanting to see it has dropped from 90% to 28% within a fortnight, lol

Larson just can't keep her gob shut and everyone is getting sick of her.

I don't remember ANY of this before Wonder Woman... Probably because Gal Gadot has class :D
SW-User
@Quizzical yeah Gal does have class ^^ it really gets annoying when it gets too preachy - you can probably see why i hate feminism really - just the name of it alone is stupid - its not anything about equality
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@SW-User I totally agree. That all faded with the second wave.

Third wave it became about revenge, and with the fourth wave it's just outright bigotry and lies.
SW-User
@Quizzical recently there was this thing about how they wanted equal status in everything all this long and then someone suggests giving women the right to be drafted as equals to men and there was a pour of tweets about how they didn't want that part of equality - honestly that's just a sham
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@SW-User Yeah, they only want all the good stuff and none of the shit men have to do day in day out 😠
SW-User
@Quizzical i know that's just sick - like makes me wanna not ever call myself a woman
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@SW-User I can see it coming to a head in a few years and there being a huge public backlash against the entire SJW virtue signalling movement.
SW-User
@Quizzical i do kinda hope so - but in a way that doesn't really backfire or make it any worse than it already is ^^

to be fair i am kinda on the other extreme of these things - i am pretty much for the patriarchy and i have loved the way things were to begin with - i agree the suffrage did some good - but i kinda like to draw the line since that - everything else was pretty silly and unwarranted honestly
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@SW-User That's the thing, there pretty much isn't a patriarchy in the Western World

A lot of what we see in society is owing to the hardwired differences in men and women.

There was never a huge organised conspiracy to crush women, lol
SW-User
@Quizzical pfft that's honestly the most silliest argument i've heard is the conspiracy to crush women - i mean for what honestly? like somehow as a matter of unspoken policy regimes and men had agreed upon this
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@SW-User All across the planet too! lol
SW-User
@Quizzical exactly! utterly absurd
