I didn’t grow up with a specific religion. Both my parents have different religions and as a result, I became atheist. So no, we never needed religion/church to be close. What is your view on it ?

@SW-User I think it depends on the family. My dad was always more religious than anyone else, and he hardly spent anytime with us, so I think if we spent Sundays doing something else together as a family than we would have been closer.

@Lostpoet I agree with you. But yes, it also depends on the family. Would you raise your kids the way you’ve been raised ?

@SW-User I honestly don't know because my own faith is about nil right now, but I think it's important that kids have an understanding that they should treat others with compassion and understanding and I don't know if that kind of stuff can be taught on its own.

@Lostpoet I’m sure compassion, empathy, kindness, morals can be taught without religion. I wasn’t raised with religion so I might be the living proof. Lol.
