Is it possible to have some civil discourse and reasonable debate here?

Is it automatic to resort to name calling and verbal abuse? Don't get me wrong I have been guilty of this myself. But for some it seems to be their modus operandi.

Only a handful of users will be able to discuss a difference in opinion here. Most just lash out then block you in a last ditch effort to prop up their narrow view and cognitive dissonance.
People generally have more in common than that which divides them but deep seated personal biases burn those bridges as soon as they are built.
