Keep her outside until you have a chance to verify her situation. BE AWARE of your own situation and keep her out there with the door locked. Check your own back door!
After a few minutes of letting her decide if she's still afraid (you should be able to gauge that) ask her if she still wants you to call the police.
Remember: She's not in danger on your doorstep and she can scream if she does need to.
This is one scenario.... not the same if she needs medical help.

He asked me why I have to always be a boy scout
and why women in our city never learn
Trading crack for crack can end them up ,abandoned and naked on my road ,
But for the most part crime is low in our city ,,they now do a better job at policing such spots too ...
I used to sell guns to all the local law enforcement officers in our county
I know them all ,even the detectives
They all love flashing a shield and informing me they don't have to wait 3 days
some even try to say they are exempt from the ATF call in ,they are not

@rckt148 Well, for my part, I'm glad you're a "boy scout". Too many people in our society are not. We should never turn our backs on someone in need - but we should still be wary not to be taken advantage of. Here in Canada we have many social 'safety nets'. Thus, I don't give hand-outs to people on the street... I give my money to the LOCAL organizations that can help them and I refer the beggars to those organizations. Buskers are different - I'll throw a coin in their hat if they are working for it.
As for your badge flashers... that's sort of like 'begging with authority' isn't it? When I was working I accepted the (few) violation tickets I got and I gave out the tickets to the guys who flashed their badges. I liken it to spanking your kid when they need it even though you love them.

@JollyRoger I served in the US Coast Guard ,and I did search and rescue
we were so good at our jobs we got special treatment ,small stuff
Like if you ended up on the news or in the paper and not wearing your ball cap
that was considered our of uniform ,,but we were on fast boats ,,so your hat was subject to blow off ,,,so putting it in your back pocket and forgetting to put it on say when a news crew is filming you fighting a fire (that is when you really need hair covered unless we had on firefighting gear ) but we were let slide
Or getting called off a search and rescue case to assist in stopping a drug boat ,and after the prisoners were taken ,we got left to get the boat and the drugs to the base and doing inventory on the vessel before it was unloaded and they drugs hauled off to be destroyed ,,and so many agencies watching each other making sure no evidence ended up in any of our hands (it has been tried for Guardsmen to try and steal bails or other drugs to sell on the streets themselves ) so agencies to watch over agencies ,,
But after service I returned on and off to my family business ,commercial fishing
And all the time the Coast Guard stops us for a routine boarding
(this does allow you to board any vessel and no warrant required )
I would have everything ready for them ,but they like to give the orders and they are not being brushed off ,,so no matter how ready you are for them ,,they are still going to show you who is in charge ,,,so for me to say "Chill out young man ,I am also Ex Coast Guard ,,I have everything you need ready for you "
And He replies "Since you are ex Guard ,then you should know ,,right now I am the one with the authority ,and you provide things as I ask for them ,,
and you have to be aware that is not all I am checking out ,,
They are looking for any violations ,and anything suspicious ,and anyone who might be a felon or in the country without proper papers ...
So I get it ,,So if you know what this is about ,,shut your mouth and do as your told ,,you being ex Coast Guard only show me we shouldn't find any problems

and a lot of "Kids " doing it ,,the cut off age to join is 36
They don't want any out of shape old me on their boats ,you have to be ready for anything ...Prison guards are the ones that get all of us ,Vets and Cops
They watch law breakers in a cage ,but they did not put any of them there
they can't even wear a weapon ,,,but when buying a gun ,they try to pretend like they are cops ,,they have to wait the 3 days and the ATF call in

They are no one special ,,especially when they pretend to be cops ,,,
