If a person knocked on your door and asked for food and water, what would you do?

It's cold out there and I feel sorry for all those homeless people out there.

Let them in and give them food and water. I don't think people should open up their family to the homeless though because I've heard too many horror stories. I'm from Utah and I was in 7th grade when that Elizabeth Smart kidnapping happens.
