Pardon my ignorance but if a caucasian family has lived in Africa for...say a few generations.

Would they be considered....European African? Similar to African Americans?

That would be people like me. I'm basically known as a White male and I live in South Africa. My parents were born here as well as a couple of my grandparents. Before that my ancestors came from Italy, England and Scotland.

@Wraithorn I think I should add more to my answer. I basically think of myself as African. However many Black African people object to that because I am a White dude. They say I should call myself European. I say that I , my parents and their parents were born here, so I am African. Africa is all I know and I don't give a rat's ass about the British Queen either. I am an African or if necessary, a White African.

And if people want to get all snarky about my ancestry then I say,"The DNA of all living Humans can be traced back to Africa. So strictly speaking we're all f*ckin' Africans or of African descent." 🙂
