How does erosion form canyons?

GentleJoe · 61-69, M Best Comment
It begins at a low area with a slope where the water runs down hill and VEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRY slowly washes away the dirt and rocks from the sides. So, something like the Grand Canyon took millions of years to form.

@Deletedlol You're welcome. 😊

Very slowly. The Grand Canyon goes almost as far back as Adam and Eve, five thousand years ago.

@hunkalove Thousand? It's been millions of years.
Canyons ARE erosion. Go take a hose with a spray nozzle and blast some dirt with it. Don't let your brain get lazy! Air and water have the same effect on dirt and stone. Think!

@puck61 I'm doing it for a poster project.
@Deletedlol Okay, wind and rain and hot and cold work together to turn rock into sand and wash and blow it away, but I just like to see people challenge their brains a little more. Sorry.
Mechanical and chemical friction.
