Do some hospials (In America) secretly put peoole to "Sleep" if they think they are better off?

I sure don’t know, and I’m sure some will disagree, but I was having a conversation with a friend just yesterday, in which I mentioned that dying animals get treated better than terminal patients, which are left to suffer till the very last breath. I’d rather be put to sleep, than suffer so badly, but only for us who want that option. I have worked in a nursing home and have seen so many suffer so badly to the very end. It was so sad. I feel if they had had the option to stay and suffer or take a shot to peacefully slip away and go home, they would have chosen the latter. I know I would. I don’t see that lingering on makes any sense.
