Why does it seem that Americans now base your worth as a person on which political party you subscribe to?

It's absurd. As if that were the ONLY criteria for deciding a person's value. Not whether they are a good parent, not whether they help others, not whether they are compassionate.

Honestly, THIS is why I am sick of politics. There is NO common sense left any more.

Don’t you also love how the party without the purse string always finds their religion when it comes to budget deficits and the debt but then completely forgets it the minute they’re back in charge? They’re all useless. @Peaceful

@Peaceful That’s why for the first time in my adult life, I didn’t vote. I just can’t support any of it, and I didn’t feel like there was any real representation to be found. I’m tired of settling for “the lesser of two evils”. Compounding it is the fact that I live in an area where there was not a single competitive contest, so my vote would have literally not mattered anyway.

@SW-User I've decided that I'm going to raise my standards even though the political world seems hell bent on lowering the bar. My vote is going to be earned with something more than "at least I'm not as bad as that guy". I'm done settling for that. Until there are reasonably qualified candidates who support social freedoms while remaining grounded in fiscal realities, I'm not going to bother with it any longer.

@SW-User That is exactly where I am at Bam and I don't give a damn if others approve or not. If I cannot cast a vote in complete confidence, why even bother. Seems to be giving in instead of demanding better candidates.
