Why do men play games?

So I was trying to be caring and I made sure that I was available every time my partner needed me, he then started treating me like I am shit. By all means I'm not desperate I was trying to be in a heathy relationship where running and chasing is not necessary. He made me look desperate, not being mean but I'm way out of his league to begin with, maybe this is why people shouldn't drop their standards.

Men and women are both capable of playing games. As for a reason for his behaviour, you may need to look into his past. Reasons could be anything simple from a desire to be chased (abandonment or ego) or commitment issues (take your pick of fears and childhood traumas, could even be a lack of maturity). More complicated, and perhaps more worrying, would be a need to exert some come of influence by withholding ‘affection’ or a need to hold a dominant position within the relationship
