Why do men play games?

So I was trying to be caring and I made sure that I was available every time my partner needed me, he then started treating me like I am shit. By all means I'm not desperate I was trying to be in a heathy relationship where running and chasing is not necessary. He made me look desperate, not being mean but I'm way out of his league to begin with, maybe this is why people shouldn't drop their standards.

This is a people thing and there could be many reasons driving it but it boils down to one fact, they're not invested in you as you're in them.
If you feel your needs are not being met or respected even after communication, it's best to walk away.
