Not my prison design - a pit 500 feet down 500 feet square - no guards just buildings and cots - I would have steel bars going from one side to the other and 1 foot off the ground to keep prisoners from fighting or trying any escape maneuvers. They would have food send down and a water supply. And drainage when it rains.
