Who is up for a road trip?

I want to go see the changing leaf colors. Where should we go?

In Texas this is about as leafy as it gets

Of course there are hardwoods by water ... but mostly mesquite and cedars around pastures .

@TexChik is that cotton?
TexChik · F
@akindheart yes on one of our places

@TexChik wow. that is neat. how do you harvest it?
TexChik · F
@akindheart it looks all white and bushy because a crop duster sprayed defoliant on there and makes the leaves fall off and the boles open . We use combines . There’s still a lot on the ground after harvest and there are people that we let come in and pick all that up ... maybe a bale or two... but to them It’s good money

@TexChik that is very cool. we have farms here and the farmers let people and charities "glean" the fields...or else they would plow it under

@akindheart that’s what we do ! Believe it or not , that’s dry land cotton. We didn’t irrigate this year ... saved us a ton on electricity ! We fertilized just before a rain and it’s been wet this year . That’s 2.7 bales /acre crop . The best we’ve ever done on that pasture .
