Your username reminds me of the time I spent in Korea. When we were in the field, and would stop for the night. A woman, usually an older woman, would come and build a fire and set a large pot to boil. We would line up to buy a hot bowl or ramen (we would pronounce it as ramiyon) and a coke. Sometimes we'd be able to buy a choco-pie.
