If you are an employer or professor, would you ever write a negative recommendation?

When I was in undergrad applying to grad school a friend of mine asked a professor to write him a letter or recommendation and his response was "it'll be very short." D:

@life14 Someone I work with told me about a really negative letter of recommendation they received for someone applying to grad school. It was really not pretty.

In college I had a friend of a friend that asked a professor to write her letter or recommendation for grad school too. I’m not sure how the girl found out because technically her letter was supposed to “sealed”, but she must had opened it beforehand. Her professor wrote that she would chew gum in class and fall asleep during class. 😟

@life14 Chew gum? Who even cares.

@SW-User Word. The thing is that I was in a couple of her classes and I honestly never saw her doing any of that stuff ( not that it would wrong to chew gum anyway)
