If a business only takes cards and not cash, like a hotel, is that illegal?

Unfortunately not any more. It use to be some time ago that cash must be taken as "legal tender" but since the debit card came around all that has changed.

For twelve years I worked at a company that only accepts cards. I didn't like doing it but it was a job. Yet one would not believe why such a necessary public service would only accept cards.
