Absolutely. We've been in our current house for over four years and the carpets are still like new. Not a single pair of shoes has been on them in that time.

No policy but personally I don't wear anything on my feet in the house and when put , not at work and not exersising , I wear open sandals

@SirEldridge Some folks though need to wear shoes in the house though, in the case of needing foot support or have foot problems. Some wear shoes specifically for indoors, so there's that thought.
