Is it really okay to never hold a grudge against anyone?

I am asking because I finally got a confession out of the girl I like why she's talking to her abusive ex. She said it's impossible for her to hate anyone, no matter how badly they hurt her. She thinks everyone has good on the inside even people as evil as her ex. Does this make her a better person than I, or incredibly naive?
