Just a little reflection of modern day mentality...

Earlier today, I posted a photo on my Instagram. Just a picture of the sky with a caption on the gloomy weather there's been lately. In two hours, it got two likes.
About ten minutes ago, I posted another photo - this time, a selfie. Nothing super "exciting," pretty much just a typical selfie. However, that post currently has five likes.

Isn't it amazing how much more people care about looks and attraction, rather than the beauty found in nature? Or, really, the beauty found in anything that isn't a person's face. Most of what I post on Instagram is about something other than my own face, so I've noticed this before. A photo were I'm trying to express some sort of creative individuality receives a small fraction of attention compared to any given selfie. And honestly, that bums me out. It really does seem to show what most people care about, and I'm sure most of those people would unfollow if I refrained from the occasional selfie.

I don't have a bunch of followers, nor do I care to. What content I share that people like or dislike is irrelevant to me, but even still it's interesting to see this sort of thing. And I'm sure if I was a bit more attractive or posted more revealing photos (or both) I'd probably see this trend even more.

What do you guys think about this? And excuse the messiness of this post, it's just one continuous train of thought to vent frustration haha.

This is a very interesting post. I love to admire the beauty in nature. Sometimes when I notice an attractive woman, I have a similar thought. I guess though, when we dwell upon human beauty, there is something deeper to that, due to the possibility of connection, relationship. Sometimes the attraction may be sexual, or at least somewhat sexual. I think that's just a part of how humans are. I don't mind people being more interested in people than in nature. I also don't like people objectifying and not treating others as humans though.

Taking an interest in humanly beauty is fine. But it’s the objectification that I don’t appreciate. And it’s situations like this that hint at such underlying interest.
I’ve posted photos of myself after being inactive, and I’ll get a handful of guys messaging me, asking how I’ve been and that it’s “been a while.” And yet, I can post a photo of some scenery after a while of inactivity and get a couple of likes - no one asking how I am or anything. I think that speaks to true intentions.

@KatieKatze True, though I do think it's natural to notice physical human beauty more. I guess if you think there's some sexual intent behind their interactions, which remains undeclared, then their friendship isn't really true.
