Does anyone think that pennies should stop being produced?

Maybe in the 1950's a kid can go buy a piece of candy for a nickel or five pennies but now it literally seems as if pennies are just there just to be there. Maybe it would be better if their production stopped and those materials are put to a better use. Just my thoughts. What do you guys think?

Well... without pennies your candy bar would be $2 instead of $1.99 Plus tax on a dollar is 9 cents here. Without pennies that tax would be 10 cents. Seems like a small amount but it adds up over time.

True. Even the slightest increase or decrease in U.S tax amount can cause economic shifts.
