For short term it is probably ok, but to actually do it to keep the stuff, you are most likely wasting money. You will end up paying almost double the cost of buying the item in a regular store. Do rent to own as a last resort, there are some stores that will work with those that have bad credit.

I knew a couple who's parents were coming for a visit for a couple months and they did that, let it go back in two months.

That bad credit will not make it easy...landlords are checking that and doing CORI's these days..it stinks
