i bought him a $300 knife, he says we should stop talking

my dad got mad about this and idk what i should do. my friend said “lets stop talking..” the night after i bought him this japanese octopus knife, and my dad saw there was $300 out of my account. how do i get my friend to pay me back? he never paid me back for gas and $150 i gave him last year and he prolly never will. pls help

You made a gift, I'm afraid.
Your valuable life lesson (if they didn't ask for it, don't give it) cost you $300.
It most certainly could have been more (and it could have been a family member instead of a friend!)

Now, if they said, "Get me this and I'll pay you back" - then you take them to court.
