@NorthernRoses they can't at all. There's confusion between L and R in Japanese, and every consonant has to have a vowel sound after it... And my last name is all consonants.

@CheshireCatalyst Japanese and western names rarely mash well. They couldn't pronounce my name right either, but at least it sounds a bit better from them than it does from English speakers 😭

Yeah, Syllabic languages are tricky like that, lots of interpreting and altering to fit the consonant-vowel or consonant-consonant-vowel thing they got going on
