Which universities have the most respected historians of Islam?
@SomeHand If I could find the most reliable source, perhaps an anthology of the best scholars' work, I would buy a copy to read up on the History of the development of Islam from the time of the Prophet to the present day.
I would prefer to read it from the point of view of erudite Muslims rather than Westerners, because although the top Western academics are very careful about their sources, Muslim specialist intellectuals are likely to have access to a greater range of sources, and also insiders' insights into the issues.

You can probably watch or listen to Yasir Qadhi’s series. It’s quute long and academic in nature.
As for a best analysis on the analyses of history of Islam that is quite an interesting request. However you can pick up most mainstream seerah books to talk about the time for prophet to the end of his death.

Ibn Sakkir or ibn Atheers translated works will do though for history beyond that.
