Are two parents even necessary these days or is that too 1950s?
Its too 1950s people dont need 2 parents. It's not needed because most people dont have that anyway

Necessary, probably not anymore. But, it's still best if the kid gets the love and stability of a 2 parent household. At least that's what the numbers say.
That said, I've seen some pretty crappy 2 parent setups, with severy screwed up kids as well.
Bottom line, there's no universal formula to being a successful parent. You just have to do the best with whatever cards you've been dealt.
