Same reason people don't use capital letters.

If we're going to use English, let's use it. If we're making alterations to it, fine. But it seems so arbitrary on which words are chosen for such.
Don't know why not capitalizing the first word of the sentence doesn't irritate me while the use of "ur" does. And I'll support the shortening of "though" since the "gh" has no sound input for that word.
Our language is messy, yes. But that's why it can be used to make some powerful speeches and pretty poems.

I consider myself pretty lazy, but for me, trying to recall what the shortcuts even are is more difficult than just typing out the long way.

Even worse are esoteric abbreviations, where people arrogantly assume that everyone knows them.

My biggest annoyances are the overuse of U and R. I mean, it's 2 letters difference. How lazy can a person get!? Lol!
