Do you think therapy is a bunch of bs or do you think it works

I think if you get a good therapist, it gives you a new perspective to consider.

It works only if you want it to and you apply yourself
Finding the right therapist is SO important.

I went to one a few times........but I went to 4 others before I found her. the other's were terrible...and one actually made things worse.
@BoobooSnafu I can see where you’re coming from. Personally I went because i wanted to dig up all the repressed shit and find ways to heal but I can see why some wouldn’t even want to know what they’re repressing and why.
@RemovedUsername650611 I just wanted to get better. You do that by accepting your issues - and by learning to make changes that improve your thought paths. and emotional coping mechanisms.
My logic was......things were bad enough. Digging it up would just make it worse. (It was bad enough realising the possibility).
And I'm glad I found a therapist who accepted that I just wanted to improve, find solutions .

And I did.....faster than I thought. I did everything she suggested. It was painful, it was hard and exhausting. But worth it !....SOOOO worth it.
@BoobooSnafu I’m glad it worked for you! I for sure think who the therapist is and their style will make or break the experience

Therapy works as long as you find the right person.

Good therapy works.
Depends on the problem and type of therapy/therapist. In general, a mix of things contributes towards a healthy mental state i guess

i didnt find it helpful but i honestly didn’t give it an adequate chance i think.
@DoubleRings why do you think that is
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
@RemovedUsername650611 why do i think what is
No, but at the same time it doesn't guarantee your problems will be solved

@RemovedUsername650611 I’m very relieved. 😉

I think therapy works but therapy can only do so much. The patient has to be committed to getting better and if they aren’t then therapy won’t work. But after so long therapy stops working for different reasons

It's let me get away with less meds.
