Can anyone tell me what the point of verification is?

Is there a REASON to do it? I can think of reasons not to.

I guess the site ethos is taking a 180. Anonymity used to be emphasized so that people would feel open to express themselves in groups and stories that they may not wish to otherwise.

@Xuan12 the way I see it, this is a protection for those of us who post pictures of ourselves. Not taking way from the anonymity of users who choose not to.
