Don't take this as fact as laws may have changed. But...it is legal to drink alcohol if with family and it's part of a meal.
You can enter a pub at the age of 14 if accompanied by parents and you are eating a meal.
You can't approach the bar until you are 16. And even then you can only buy non alcoholic drinks.
At 18 you can approach the bar and buy alcohol.
Clubs tend to have their own rules.
Many nightclubs for example might have a 21+ entry policy.
Private social clubs again have similar rules although things like Servicemens clubs will often allow youngsters in certain areas.

er. perhaps I'm not awake. I'd read that as 'is it legal', cuz for some it never is/has been/likely will be. afaik, the limit pretty much everywhere in this country is 21 due to special interest groups and federal pushing.

[c=#003BB2]16. For drinking booze but I believe they had raised it to 17. Can't care less though since I'm well over legal age now xD[/c]

It used to be 16 for regular alcoholic drinks and 18 for strong liquor. Since a few years it's 18 for all.
21. But legal guardians are allowed to serve their kids at a younger age.
