Just like what sighmeupforthat said, we see the same thing with how 'safe' things are. Statistically, we here in the U.S. are safer than we were in the past. The difference is that with internet and the current attitude of the media, we see and hear about every single thing that happens. Weve had murderers, rapists, kidnappers, terrorists, etc forever. But, 35 years ago when I was a kid, you only knew about the high profile or local cases...and many times law enforcement wouldnt let people know, because they felt it would cause a panic. Weve had all these other issues for most of human history....the differences are that many of these things were not "acceptable" to talk about, or just not known outside of family and close friends, if even that. People arent any more "pathetic and sensitive" than before...its just that they are more open about it than thet were allowed to in the past, and through social media, and the speed and bredth of the internet age, we are just more aware of it than before.

Yes! Did you read about the University of Chicago's letter to its freshmen? I loved it!
Yes and I totally agree with them regarding trigger warnings

Too many people are using trigger warnings and safe places to run away from reality. No matter how hard we try, we have to face things we don't agree with, along with things that upset, disturb, or anger us. That's part of growing up.
No, people are the same as they've always been. Just these days they don't feel like they need to hide in the shadows and suffer in silence anymore, now they're allowed to be human, and have problems, and talk about those problems.
not up to me to give you evidence. if you want it, it's up to you to find it. you asked a question and i answered in the way i thought best. nothing more. These days, the world is a much more open place without a doubt. people document their entire lives everyday everywhere, and that's not a thing people used to do or even felt comfortable doing in the past. but, not gonna go out of my way to make a flow chart about it lol
I <3 your answer but on a technicality I asked a question. You supplied a statement in response - with a claim in it. It is therefore up to you to give evidence for the statement. Of course if it's not worth your time or effort or you do not want to that's fine too - but burden of proof is with the giver of the answer not the person asking the question ;)
if you say so. you asked for an answer or opinion really and got one. you then asked for evidence when there didn't need to be any. how can one prove a thought, when it's really just a thought? the answer would always be " because i think so" wouldn't it? anyhow. have a great day.

Yeah. Privileges can do that to people.
