Does this sound stupid?

For me to not reach out to old profs to pull some strings for me as far as jobs. I don't want them to look bad if I don't perform well. When I was looking for an internship (months ago) I asked a prof and he told me that I need to be serious about it if he's gonna get me in. I ended up declining his offer because of that, AND the fact that I had a job, mandatory volunteering and 5 classes.

I feel like I let myself down too easy.😩

They can't blame you for trying! I say, go for it! The worst you'll get is a "No," which sucks for a moment, and then you move on with your life. It's admirable that you're trying so hard to do well for yourself. Not everyone has that kind of drive and/or opportunity.
Did I answer your question at all? lol. I guess my advice is just "Keep trying!"

@lovelywarpedlemon Yes you did. I didn't have too many profs who were directly related to my major. Only 3 that I've actually had physical classes with. I don't like 2 of them and the other retired last year, the same one I was talking about in the post😓
@iamnikki It's amazing how far networking will get you. If you know the right person, you're "In." Good luck to you.

@lovelywarpedlemon Yep,that's the sucky part. All these hoops you gotta jump through just to get a job. Looks like I shouldn't have even went to college. Could have just started volunteering at 5 years old so I can have all the experience that I need...
@iamnikki ahahah Yeahhhhh. I dropped out. Twice. I don't know where I'm headed. Working on an alternative method. Or rotting. Haven't figured it out, yet.

@lovelywarpedlemon I wish I'd had quit when I was having problems. I just didn't want to owe money. Also wanted to just finish what I started. I kept being told "it'll get better' and "it'll get more interesting once you pick major, take classes pertaining to it". All lies.
@iamnikki It's true. The system is designed to suck people into debt. Same with credit cards. Our society is designed to make the rich richer, and keep the poor down.

@lovelywarpedlemon Yep, I hate it. And people, mostly professors and really high ups would tell me to continue with school and become a professor or get a Ph.D. For what? I can't even get a job now...
@iamnikki I wish you well on your journey. ♥

@lovelywarpedlemon thank you. You as well
