@Batman What about those of us “white people” who are discriminated against b/c our names aren’t “white”? I realize it’s an unfair circumstance (b/c why discriminate based on name? And honestly, why descriminate PERIOD??) but it makes me more and more aware of life around me. If you won’t hire me with my full name and not one I pretend to be, you don’t deserve me. And I feel the same for my AA counterparts. Fuck that company.

@DisappearIntoSilence How does any of that make me privileged? Someone giving you shit for your name? Who the fuck cares? They're assholes, you'll run into a lot throughout life as I'm sure you already know. Has anyone ever denied you of anything because of your name? I highly doubt it.

@JohnTaylor Yes, I’ve been denied MANY jobs b/c of my name. And honestly? It means I wasn’t meant to work for organizations that didn’t judge someone based on name. I live in an area that is prejudiced. My given name makes people pause. I’ve lost many jobs b/c of it. Can I prove it? Sure. Once I abbreviated my name, I received SEVERAL job offers. Hmmm. Go figure. Lots of love to my AA counterparts. Life is damn hard. And unless you’re in my position, don’t comment further. It makes you look stupid.
