Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Check out couples in public. The media has us brainwashed. The truth is there’s no accounting for taste.

@TeenGirl01 You asked why some people look good with weight gain and others don’t. The fact is there are people who think that those people you think are ugly after gaining weight, like yourself, are beautiful to some people. But, we beat ourselves up because Hollywood tells us that beauty is black and white.

it's all about distribution! It also depends on your bones structure. 5'4" and 124 lbs sounds good to me.

It depends on where you're gaining weight. If it's just an increase in body fat, chances are that it won't look very appealing on you. If you eat healthy and follow resistance training however, it's much more likely that increase in weight will come from muscle growth. The latter often looking much more appealing. That's not to say that one looks better than the other of course. You can look very good while being thin with little muscle definition.

It's all genetics sadly. We're all born different. Some wear weight well, others don't. It's just life.

@TeenGirl01 Yeah, people always seem to want whatever they don't have even when the things they do have are better.

Different people carry it in different ways

Genetics define where the fat goes and how dense it layers. Asians for example have high dispositions for internal fats. Though this means they retain slender looks at higher fat ratios, the positioning of the fat around their organs can actually cause more health issues than the person who very visibly carries their fat right under their skin.
