Do you think its pointless to have political debates/'discussions'/arguments?

To me it seems just as pointless a religious debates. I've never seen a situation where one side actually admitted they were wrong and changed their views after a discussion.

Anything controversial or just plain wrong needs to be openly discussed.
Yes you'll get insults and spam from trolls in whose interest it is to propel their POV. But as with physical vandalism, if you don't challenge it, they win.
