Do you think mindlessnes has become the social norm?

Especially with huge number of people seem conflating "everyone is entitled to their own opinion" with the completely insane idea that all opinions are equal.

I remember practicing debate skills at school-- I thought it was pretty silly at the time. Why defend a position you don't hold? But it forced an investigation of facts, of precedent, of a fuller comprehension of the issue at hand. And a willingness to fully consider an opposing point of view. But best of all, it required that we identify and choose reliable sources.

I get what you mean but I do not know how to phrase my observation during debates or arguments.. The undue respect to someone's view or opinion and refraining from questioning them and instead flattering them to the core.. do not know if its to keep theirs intact..

And demand facts or proof or statistics for even things that are apparent.

So there is this complacency of you keep yours and I keep mine else if you question mine, I question yours.

All I see is that education has rendered as many opinianated jerks who do not know how to weigh things.

Define facts: you will soon enjoy erupting contradictions.
