No, but I want to try it. I want to get away from using Microsoft.

@Arian I am not too familiar with Linux and I'm not certain how to install it on my desktop. Another hold up is my desktop won't turn on anymore. I cleaned the dust out one day and now I won't get a picture on my monitor. Everything inside turns on, but nothing appears on screen.

How do you connect to your monitor? Have you tried hooking up to different monitor or replacing cable?

@adhane05 It's possible you loosened a delicate connection between the motherboard and the graphics card. If it's a desktop, open it and wiggle every card and make sure they are snug in their slot.

SW-User
@adhane05 Try opening the computer again and wiggling each card thats taking up a slot. Even just make sure every cable is snug.

@SW-User I've tried all those things several times too. I don't get it. I put another graphics card in and it still didn't work. I tried unplugging everything and plugging it back in. Everything inside appears to by functional while running, but still no picture.

@adhane05 If you have access try another monitor before you purchase anything
adhane05 · 31-35, M
@SW-User I tried that too. 😑

SW-User
@adhane05 Using logic then ... the culprit would be the cable. If the computer is new, the monitor is new .....
Arian · 26-30, F
I'm stumped.
adhane05 · 31-35, M
@SW-User My computer isn't new, only the monitor. Are you referring to the power cable?
adhane05 · 31-35, M
@SW-User You meant the DVI cable, didn't you? Yeah, I tried switching to a HDMI cable as well.

SW-User
@adhane05 In my time it would be a SVGA cable... Never had to use a DVI cable. I have had a power horse of all-in-one during that time.
adhane05 · 31-35, M
@SW-User That sounds great. Does that mean everything turns on at once? Seems like we took a step backwards.

SW-User
@adhane05 ahh.... no. My all-in-one desktop runs the risk like a laptop without the benefit of the laptop being as portable.
adhane05 · 31-35, M
@SW-User I hope it stays working for ya. Sounds like a pain to fix.

SW-User
@adhane05 Which is why I say ahh no.... but it's not much different than your smartphone you likely have now with a much larger screen
