Hmmmm, good question

One has superior range, power and firing speed... But the other require pretty much no training

If you've ever studied English history, you will know that massed longbows were the weapon which dominated a continent for two centuries. They had a higher rate of fire and decimated even the most heavily-armoured knights....

#justsaying :-)

Crecy, Poitiers....

@SW-User Yep, crossbows were really only a thing when they started to see plate armor and needed something with more kick to penetrate it reliably. A few crossbows to help take out plate armor knights with a barrage of Longbows for volume on the the larger horde of soldiers in mail and gambeson.

Only wrong on the most heavily armored knights part. Those were the main reason for crossbows.

Bow, simply requires more training. Crossbows are handy en masse but no single crossbow can match a single skilled archer.
where are the stats?

Technically you can make a bow and a crossbow equally strong. In general, crossbows aren't bows

Crossbow can be more accurate but the long bow has better range. Idk depends on fighting conditions I guess

Whichever I get in whatever game I'm playing.

Neither really but a regular bow is simpler and faster.

@Fangirlsarah1996 Not really, being able to out the most projectiles downrange is really where the power lies. With the amount of energy in a projectile you reach a point of.diminishing returns. If it hits the vitals, it hits the vitals. With something like an arrow how hard it hits them is of little difference.
The main advantage of the crossbow is added range from having the added draw weight and also not having to hold the draw weight yourself. Owning both the crossbow just shoots farther with less arc. It's a little flatter shooting is all. But a battle scenario having a flat shooting quick first shot is nothing compaired to being able to send more arrows down range faster.

@MethDozer Should I be scared that you know this much?
MethDozer · M
@Fangirlsarah1996 Not really. I'm a shooter and archer. I always had an interest in tactics too. That doesn't mean I'm aggressively violent by design.
I'm not afraid to be if threatened with it,but I'm pretty easy going and live and let live.
